Do Not Quit

If you’re thinking of quitting, remember why you are doing this in the first place. Fitness is important, being healthy is important, sure, you’ve heard it tons of times.

What does it mean to you? Why do you want to be fit, why do you want to take the massive step of changing yourself and your body?

Don’t quit. You’ve come this far. You’ve made the choice. You’ve got the drive. You can’t quit now.

It sucks, I know. It’s not a cake walk and speaking of which, you’re probably craving cake right now cause of your diet. Why are you doing this to yourself? You could be eating cookies and lounging on the couch.

However, it is in those moments that you remember why you need to change. You don’t want to lounge about anymore and cookies, pshh, who needs them? Seriously though, back me up here, cause my will shakes as well sometimes. Is it weird to have dreams of cookies?

Anyway…

Don’t quit. Results take time to show but then again, most awesome things in life do take some time, right? You can do this. You are doing this.

Friends, Family, and Fitness don’t always mix

When you’re keeping fit, friends and family can soon become foes. They mean well, and only want to share delicious treats with you, but when they choose to present you with chocolates and sweets, they have become the enemy.

Now you must avoid their offerings while tiptoeing around their feelings while praying that they don’t find you strange for your resolve.

Draw the lines early on and prove you stand firmly behind your fitness. You only have to do so a few times before you are referred to as the one who is on a diet. As if you’re some kind of monster in the corner, spitting and breathing fire at the ones who are normal.

Keep strong, but do not worry when your defenses crack. They are the ones you love. They’re like junkfood ninjas. You won’t know you’re eating a brownie until it’s halfway down to your stomach.

Train While You Live

People give the excuse that they don’t have time to workout, don’t have time to get in shape. How can you not have the time when this are so many workout routines out there?

Today, I took a rest day but my muscles still feel tense. I helped my mom move to a new place and nothing is as good for the muscles as heavy boxes and stairs. Today’s routine went for twenty minutes but it still felt like a good hour in the gym.

Training doesn’t involve weights, a gym, or even your gear. Workout where you work. There isn’t a moment of the day where you can’t change yourself for the better.

Train while you live and you’ll live stronger. Use every minute of the precious life you have. There’s a sexy beast caged up inside you. Let it out.

Workout Your Other Muscles

This weekend I played with kids. Besides boatloads of happiness, you know what else I have? Sore muscles. Why? Because playing with kids is a workout.

I didn’t run or lift weights, but I feel good and I feel like I had a solid workout.

This comes from solid reps of “Please, can I touch the roof”‘ and a couple minutes straight of tag. I also decided to try two consecutive reps of “Can I go on your shoulders” and gave my neck quit a bit of work because of it. At one point as well I was literally bench pressing my niece. It was, by far, the best workout I’ve ever had.

Playing with kids is the most fun you can have while getting in shape. Who needs weights when you can use nieces, nephews, and cousins? Plus, dumbbells don’t look cute in dresses.

Run For A Reason

I run with a sweater on. To be perfectly honest, I do this because I’m not so in love with my love handles. I know no one is checking me out, I know no one will notice from the back (which is where you can clearly see love handles), and I know that I should stop since it’s getting warmer and I might die of a heat stroke.

I can’t help it.

A fitness routine is great. Running is great. The long haul until you achieve the body you would gladly take shirtless pictures in the mirror of, that’s not so great. The amount of time it takes for a body to change is what gets most people. It’s probably what made me quit so many times before.

I feel different right now. I think it’s time to lose the sweater. I think it’s time to accept the body and show it off. I’ve got quite a bit to be proud of, and when my love handles leave, hell, I’ll feel even better.

Is it all about my fat? Is that why I run? Not exactly. I run because I want to have a body I can be proud of and the fitness level for me to keep up with the children that I will have. I never want to say to my son, “Slow down… (gasp)… too fast… (collapse).” That’s what drives me. When you have a reason, running becomes a lot easier. I want to run until I never want to wear another sweater again.

Breakfast sucks

I hate eating right. I hate getting up in the morning knowing I will work out in a couple hours and that means I can’t have a nice big breakfast. I want eggs, bacon, sausages, whatever the hell I want. But the last thing I need is to be kicked out of a gym for covering the equipment with vomit…

I eat a protein bar for breakfast. It’s not a grand experience but it does help you burn calories. It fills you up and you are cutting down on calories for one whole meal. Lots of people say Breakfast is the most important meal though so I might be wrong here but the results are starting to show.

Results are the best way to stop from quitting a healthy lifestyle. Too bad it takes quite a bit of time before it happens. I swear, everytime I think of eating healthy or having a healthy diet, I wanna order a pizza.

And now I’m hungry for pizza.
